Chernobyl

April 26th marks the 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster. With the ever growing concern of the reactors in Fukushima, Japan, attention has risen on the eve of the Chernobyl anniversary.
Last week I visited the power plant and the surrounding area known as the exclusion zone, a 30km circle around the Chernobyl plant. I met with “re-settlers” who moved back a few months after they were evacuated in 1986. Mostly consisting of the elderly, these re-settlers returned because they had no where else to go. They have lived in the area all their lives.

Communist Museum

On a recent trip to Prague, Czech Republic, I visited the Communist Museum. I wasn’t expecting much but was surprised at how much information I got out of it. Some great cold war relics and fun things to shoot.
The museum definitely needed some money for upkeep but I actually liked it the way it was. Had character. Post-communist character!

PEI

Have been away for a bit but am back. Here is a diptych from Prince Edward Island, Canada in 2008. I’m standing in the same spot when I shot these two images. One is facing the sea, the other facing land. Love how they line up pretty well together. Enjoy!

SinterKlaas

Thousands turn up each year for the SinterKlaas parade in Amsterdam. Sinterklaas has had a long standing tradition, here in the Netherlands. Just like back home, during this time of year, we have Santa Clause. Only that some things are very very different…
Anyhoo, my first Sinterklaas experience was weird but the kids were happy at least.

lost at sea…

of bikes. Yeah. This is normal at the Amsterdam Central Station.

Naked Man…

…nequins.
These were molds from my body… waist up.

Shot in Paris – Oct. 2010.

Pianoman

This guy was a crooner. Great piano playing on the streets of Antwerp.
Thanks Piano Paul!

Low Heels

On a recent trip to Antwerp, Brussels.
What happened here?

Paris Streets

I visited Paris for the first time in my life this weekend. What an amazing city. So much history, life and culture. Paris, I love thee.

Documentary street photography will always hold a special part in my heart. It lured me into the world of photography. Photographers like Robert Frank, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau plus many others inspired me to become a photographer. This series is for all who enjoy and love street photography.

RotterDAM!

Rotterdam was bombed during WW2. This explains the modern architecture here. Check out the Kubuswoningen or cubed houses. Pretty cool. Reminds me of Habitat ’67 back home in Montreal.

Here’s one of the coolest churches (yes. I put ‘cool’ and ‘church’ in the same sentence) i’ve ever been to. It has some nice modern Christian art and design:
