Detraform – L7

Here’s a recent shoot I did for my good friends over at Detraform. I’ve shot photos for this telephone in the past (http://willlew.com/index.php?/things/detraform/) but that was for their non functioning prototype. This time around you it was a real working model.

It’s garnered a ton of great press. It’s been featured in Monocle, Fast Company, Apartment Therapy, Co. Design, Design Milk, Moco Loco and many more websites and magazines around the world. Check out their site: www.detraform.com

Ice wine

It’s been a while, i know and i’m following up with a shoot from a while back as well. All the way back to last November. We’re in a heat wave so what better way to cool off than to think of winter and ice wine!

Maclean’s sent me to l’Orpailleur, a vineyard to shoot a story about their ice wine. Here’s a link to to the story: http://www.macleans.ca/society/life/they-are-picking-on-quebec/

Charlevoix – Maclean’s Magazine

Last fall I had the chance to shoot for a great series for Maclean’s Magazine. It’s finally out on news stands now and it’s called “Canada 2014: 10 Places You’ve Got to See”.
I was assigned Charlevoix, Quebec.

Here’s the video:

and images from that shoot:

Maison Publique & Derek Dammann for Men’s Fashion

Over the crazy summer (insert twins here) I photographed Derek Dammann at Maison Publique for Men’s Fashion Magazine (Holiday 2013 issue). This was the second time I photographed Derek. The first time was when he was at, the now closed, DNA restaurant in Montreal. Super friendly guy with a great smile. Photographers love shooting people who have an easy genuine smile like Derek!

Mordecai Richler for Maclean’s Magazine

Here’s a recent shoot I did for Maclean’s Magazine. Mordecai Richler’s family donated his library to Concordia University here in Montreal. I sifted through about a dozen boxes. I think the coolest thing I found was his old passport. http://www2.macleans.ca/2013/11/23/my-dads-5000-books/

Touchfit – George St-Pierre iPhone workout app

I had the pleasure to meet and photograph the local + international star, George St-Pierre of UFC fame, for his workout app called Touchfit. You can see and download the app here: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/touchfit-gsp-500+-exercise/id612292961?mt=8

We managed to photograph and film over 500 exercises in 2 days. Pretty incredible even for someone like GSP.

Wall Street Journal – Montreal Churches

Oh boy. It’s been a long 4 months of nothing from me here but it doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy. Far from it. Babies and work have forced me to become a bit of a narcoleptic but it’s not that bad anymore, hence me writing here.

Here’s a story I shot of the St. Jude Spa & Gym for the Wall Street Journal about churches being converted to condos/schools/etc. It’s in today’s paper!

CULT MTL – Best of 2013

After the Montreal Mirror was unexpectedly shut down last year, some of the writers and editors started up their own anglophone free paper called Cult MTL. I’ve stayed in touch and recently did a shoot for their “Best of Montreal” which basically follows the Mirrors format of best-of’s in town. Big props to these guys for rising from the ashes of the Mirror. Looking forward to shooting more for them in the future.

Plumes

A friend of mine forwarded my photo taking skills to this band, the Plumes who were looking for a photographer to shoot their next promo for their Canadian west coast tour. They have a great sound with lead singer, Veronica’s beautiful ethereal voice and Geof’s melodic composing.
I felt bad because I led them into some yucky wet mud. Sorry guys!Oh, and there’s a harpist in the band. Wicked no?

Little Burgundy

It’s always nice to go back to an old neighbourhood where you once lived. It’s even better when you’re assigned to shoot a story about the neighbourhood. That’s what re:Porter Magazine had me do a few months back. Everyone in Montreal knows about Little Burgundy’s strip of cool. It’s a great strip that has really helped liven up this area of town in the last few years. Check out the spread and some out take shots that didn’t make it to print.
